Rachel Mason Hears the Sound is the first of two children's novels authored by Cindy Lovell. Both are set in the caring and creative Mrs. Juarez's gifted 5th grade classroom. Although all of the children have a few things in common, such as being classmates in the same classroom, they all experience unique personal situations - maybe even some that you can relate to. Rachel's dilemma is common to many children - she has a loving dad she adores, with just one catch: He sometimes drinks too much.
